Astronomers and astrophysicists at the University of Toronto do groundbreaking research, lead innovative technology programs, and offer world-class training and public outreach at the David A. Dunlap Department of Astronomy and Astrophysics and the Dunlap Institute for Astronomy and Astrophysics.

The Dunlap Institute, the David A. Dunlap Department of Astronomy and Astrophysics, and researchers across the University of Toronto’s three campuses comprise the leading concentration of astronomers in Canada, at the leading research university in the country.

With over 100 faculty members, postdocs, graduate students and staff, our scientists are engaged in a wide range of observational and theoretical research, answering fundamental questions about the universe through international collaborations and with the most advanced tools on Earth and in space.

We offer Master of Science and Doctor of Philosophy degrees, and a range of graduate and undergraduate courses for University of Toronto students, in addition to training opportunities for emerging scientists around the world.
