Hubble Space Telescope

The launch of the Hubble Space Telescope in 1990 marked the beginning of a new era in astronomy. Above the obscuring effects of the Earth’s atmosphere, it gave astronomers their clearest view of the Universe.

It is one of NASA’s longest and most successful missions, producing hundreds of thousands of images that have helped increase our understanding of the cosmos, from the objects in our Solar System, to the first galaxies to form after the Big Bang
