Tuan Do’s research focuses on questions about our Milky Way Galaxy: What lies at its centre, and how did such an exotic environment form? How did the stars found around our galaxy’s central supermassive black hole form and evolve? He searches for answers by tracking the motions of stars in orbit around the supermassive black hole at the heart of our galaxy.
Do’s research also extends to the active nuclei of other galaxies, as well as to the dwarf galaxies that orbit our own.
In addition, Do is keenly interested in the advancement of science education. In 2013, he attended the Professional Development Program of the Institute for Scientist & Engineer Educators and, at the Dunlap Institute, he participated in education initiatives like the Summer Undergraduate Research Program.
Do received his doctorate from UCLA and joined the Dunlap Institute in August 2012. He left the Dunlap in December 2014 to become a Research Scientist in the Department of Physics and Astronomy at UCLA. He is currently Deputy Director of the UCLA Galactic Center Group.
